Pardy Boyz

4 white people in the rain...walking with...a Mexican!

For those of you who haven't seen "Dave Chappelle's Block Party," I am not racist but have stolen a line from that movie and adjusted it for my purposes. For those of you who know me, you know that basically that is how many of my conversations work.

So yesterday Josh, Adriana, and myself met up with Josh's friend Fred from Cali and his girlfriend Deanna. Twas a beautiful day when we met up rather serendipitously walking along 7th street. We walked over to ESPN Zone (btw, something major was going on at Ford's theater yesterday--crazy police and security, metal detectors, streets and sidewalks blocked off, people in tuxedos--but we never found out what). As another side note, super booths at the ESPN Zone--to eat in any other way is just silly. But back to the story, we were eating, visiting and talking stories (you could definitely tell Fred and Josh are friends, they both give a story quite a set up). So when we were leaving we had a minor celebrity sighting--Screech the Washington National's Eagle! So of course the boys went up to him like giddy little girls and asked if they could take a picture with him. Yes Jon I know, Josh sports mascot cheated on you. I'm sorry.

Fred and Deanna had taken a 6 hour Tourmobile tour earlier in the day so there really wasn't much to show them that they hadn't seen. So we ended up walking over to Chinatown and Union Station. After Union Station we decided to walk over to Capitol Hill. Another aside, why do people from the West coast find fireflies so fascinating? Yes, myself included. But anyways...as we were walking along the sky began to look rather ominous; the sky was grey and purplish and there was the occasional bolt of lightening. However, we made the fatal mistake of still thinking that we could stroll ambly along because of course we weren't going to get caught in the rain for the simple fact that we didn't want to be as it would be rather inconvenient (one umbrella amongst the five of us). As with most instances where people smugly think that the elements will wait to exhibit its wrath until they are warmly inside, sitting by a crackling fire, drinking hot cocoa, the rain came down on us as it did on Forest Gump in Vietnam. We were right around the Supreme Court and our destination was the Capitol South metro. But don't think we were those people who were running from awning to awning, we were strolling along laughing, cause it just had to be funny. Oh and guess who was wearing a white tank top? Ramona Quimby herself. But I did discovered that there comes a point when you get so soaked that you just can't get any more wet. [Insert dirty joke here].

So finally destination in sight, our salvation, the bright glow of the metro M. However, as you know, the Capitol South metro has no covered area and it was pouring down rain on the escalator--water on electric stairs??? But as they say in the 'hood, it was all good. Waiting on the platform for the train, we rang out our clothes, emptied the sloshy water out of our shoes, and felt proud when we could find any piece of our clothes that happened to be dry. After making a very inappropriate wetback joke to Josh we got on the metro and thus said goodbye to our damp companions.

Lessons to be learned: nature does not like tourists; while being soaked by the rain is inconvenient, it is kind of sexy; and the recap so far in the pardy boyz vs. the elements--elements 2, pardy boyz 0
